James Turk -- A 2008 Credit Crisis redux appears imminent

GSR interviews JAMES TURK - Sept 3, 2015 Nugget

Summary:

James Turk of GoldMoney.com returns to the program with less than sanguine comments on the equities markets.
A 2008 credit crisis redux appears imminent, due to reckless debt levels, domestically and around the globe.
Our guest says the Fed may raise rates by a token percentage this month and in December, and if so, the blowback will be monumental in scale, perhaps even toppling the entire economic edifice.
He's convinced that the PMs sector is nearing a sustainable nadir, on the heels of a 2 year consolidation.
Silver should lead the charge out of Dante's inferno.
The new bull market could reinvigorate mining company operations, in particular major producers with excellent earnings and solid dividends.

James Turk of GoldMoney.com returns to the program with less than sanguine comments on the equities markets - he's bracing for a 2008 credit crisis redux, thanks in no small part to reckless debt levels, domestically and around the globe. James Turk talks FINANCIAL REPRESSION

07 16 15 James Turk talks FINANCIAL REPRESSION w/FRA

With a career in International Banking, including managing the Abe Dubai Investment Authority's Commodities Portfolio, James Turk is an experienced professional who's insights should be thoughtfully considered. He feels strongly that the US needs to return to the sound money principles the framers of the US Constitution outlined and which the US has unfortunately and perilously veered away from.

FINANCIAL REPRESSION

"Financial Repression is government intervention in the market system which distorts the market's signals. .... Government intervention not only distorts the markets but in fact is counter-productive because many times it is government policies which the market are reacting to!"

Instead of changing the policies, governments try and convince the markets (through intervention) that the policies they are following are the correct ones, when in fact they are not.

James feels strongly that governments need to be outside the markets and be primarily focused on maintaining the 'rule of law' and ensuring there is a level playing field for competitive capitalism to operate on. Government intervention results in distorting that playing field to the advantage of themselves and their special interests.

"(Governments & Central Banks) are following policies that basically are not sustainable!"

"The government's 'make believe' is that they are creating wealth through creating currency and distributing it through their various programs. That is not creating wealth, but rather debasing the currency. When you debase the currency this is the worst type of financial repression because you are essentially destroying peoples ability to interact entirely voluntarily within the market place, as we fulfill our needs and wants."

UNDERSTANDING WEALTH

There is only so much wealth in world. It needs to come from somewhere if it is to be distributed in a meaningful way. James Turk believes wealth fundamentally comes in two forms: Tangible Wealth and Financial Wealth.

Financial Wealth comes with counter-party risk and the exposure to insufficient cash-flows required to support the leverage that inevitably comes with pyramiding and the interconnection of financial wealth.

James Turk believes we are presently destroying wealth. Financial Wealth gets destroyed because of the eventuality of insufficient cash-flows (Free DCF) to support the over financialization of the economy.

.... there is much, much more in this fact filled 24 minute Video.

James Turk-Another 2008 Financial Calamity Is Coming

Every financial expert agrees on two things: The global debt is unsustainable, and the world is headed for a calamity. The only question remains is when will it happen? James Turk, founder of GoldMoney.com, says, “That’s the million dollar question that everybody is trying to figure out. What’s going to be the trigger that brings it all down? You are trying to predict the future, and sadly, nobody can do that. The best we can do is prepare for the future, and that’s what China is doing. That’s why China is creating a parallel payment system. . . . That’s why China has created the AIIB, and that’s why China has been accumulating gold. As we prepare for the future, we should be thinking along the same lines as China is thinking. Buy gold, buy resources and minimize as best as you can the counter-party risk that comes from financial assets. We don’t know what the trigger point is, but we know from history and the mathematics that it cannot be serviced, and we are going to have some kind of a problem. It’s just like 2008. We’ve got another one of those coming.

James Turk: Why Gold is NOT an Investment

James Turk, founder of GoldMoney , explains why gold is not an investment but money.

With our nation in debt this bad, its gonna be a very hard landing. If Russia could fall in the 90's. We can fall in the 21st century. Our time is near and our actions are more important then ever before. Should have called it, " QE/Officially Screwed". It is one more massive scam. "Promises" sounds just about right. Old agreements are coming back with consequences. Congress refuses to admit their mistakes..and then they refuse to admit their crimes. They'll spend $trillions on a program instead of admitting that it never worked in the first place. OUR taxpayer $trillions. Ron Paul was attacked from every side... Mike Maloney - Gold Price Manipulation

Gold Price Manipulation | Mike Maloney & James Turk James Turk, founder of GoldMoney.com, and Michael Maloney of GoldSilver.com discuss Gata.org, IMF gold and the possibility of gold prices being manipulated.
James argues that the reasons laid out in 2003, that would impact negatively the purchasing power of the dollar, thereby positively impacting the price of gold, are in fact worse than anticipated. A clear concise argument for Gold and Silver ownership from someone who bravely called central banking The Barbarous Relic, in a timeless essay, for the Committee for Monetary Research and Education (CMRE), back in 2006. James Turk - Gold Will Finish 2013 At 1675 Or Better 15.Aug.13

www.FinancialSurvivalNetwork.com presents
James Turk came back on the show after a long haitus. He's extremely bullish on the yellow metal and for good reason. It's been going back up as of late and we're not seeing very much resistance on the upside. James is thinking that it will finish positive for the year and that this will be the 13th winner in a row. Perhaps he's a bit overly optimistic, but he's been right twelve years running and that's good enough for us. He's still seeing extremely powerful Asian buying, with China picking up Indian slack and we are heading into the strong gold buying season. Indian brides are happier when showered with gold.

James Turk: Buy Gold & Silver Now before 2013

If you just went short at the peaks you were fine. But investment time frames are NEVER supposed to be "2 years or less" that's what trading is for. It's not being a crook. This last 2 years has been a gift those those NOT wanting to pay more than 2000/oz for gold. Come March you'll be sorry you missed out - they won't - because in 2013 March 2000 will be the low price for a very long time. e.g. when gold is on the rise and you have a GLD call you will gain, in the money, roughly $60 or more for each dollar up GLD goes, BUT calls expire. When gold drops from its peak you buy GLD puts and you will gain roughly $60 for each dollar GLD drops (10.33 $ drop in gold = $1 drop in GLD roughly). Options EXPIRE. The buy prices are low enough to create leverage. A swing > $100/oz either way lets you do both: 1 call 1 put, swings hard then you sell EITHER to pay for BOTH + profit. Here's what's coming next: silver to 73 or so and gold to 2400 (could be 2500) 2013 Sep. Get ready then for a drop down to only 2000/gold and silver will drop with it : a scatterplot is needed to figure out how much it drops. I'd guess to 50 from 75 peak. That's a year out. Right now: (gold / 1274) to power 2.31 x 17 = silver +/- 55 cents/ounce If you want to break even and lose out sell it all now. Silver & gold are DECADE holdings over-all. SHORT-Term is paper

James Turk on recent Gold and Silver Price moves

GoldSeek Radio's Chris Waltzek talks to JAMES TURK - Oct 25, 2012

GoldMoney's James Turk points out that the competitive devaluation of the major currencies is continuing which in the end will lead to the destruction of all fiat currency. While the new liquidity injection by the European Central Bank helped to boost the markets in the short term and caused the euro to rally against the dollar he expects that the markets will soon again start to focus on the fiscal problems in Europe - none of which have been resolved yet , He emphasizes the extraordinary situation of negative interest rates and point out that gold prices are far from being overvalued right now despite the fact that gold is flirting with new all-time highs in euro terms.James Turk is also extremely bullish regarding silver, though pointing to the high volatility. He states that accumulating precious metals will continue to be a great strategy going forward.

James Turk and Robert Prechter on Gold & Inflation vs deflation

Robert Prechter and James Turk on inflation vs deflation Although I am in the inflationist camp, I actually enjoyed this interview. James Turk is brilliant as always - great insight combined with respectful delivery.Robert Prechter was always a deflationist , while James Turk is an inflationist , who believes that gold will soon be worth $8000 an ounce .... the simple fact is the politicians will ALWAYS opt to kick the can down the road if they can, to maintain their POWER/CONTROL. Currency debasement IS kicking the can. They will inflate. As the nations around the globe decide they want something other than USD, all that cash around the world, about 50% of all USD, will come right back into US borders and flood our local money supply with more paper. We hardly export a thing other than USD's,

James Turk : Gold price has risen in US dollar terms at an average annual rate of appreciation of 17% during the last 11 years

James Turk : Yes, gold doesn't provide yield because it doesn't have counterparty risk. If you want to put your gold at risk and lend it to someone you can generate yield on that. So right now people don't want that counterparty risk because they don't know whether their gold is going to be returned or whether the euro's they haven't deposited in their bank is going to be returned, if the bank goes belly-up, or the purchasing power of the euros they put on deposit will be returned because of inflation as a result of all the quantitative easing and money printing that's going on around the world. So you can't really look at some of those "straw man" arguments against gold because they don't think they carry any weight. The more important thing is what's been actually happening in over the last 11 years - the gold price has risen in US dollar terms at an average annual rate of appreciation of 17%. Now have you been earning 17% on your dollar deposits or euro deposits every year? You haven't and so gold is going to become more and more attractive as people understand that gold is still undervalued and still very much useful, and you know, valuation is more important than price. They are different things - as long as an asset is undervalued you should continue to accumulate it and by all my historical measures, gold is still undervalued. - in mineweb

Saturday, February 25, 2012

James Turk : Gold doesnt have counterparty risk

James Turk: You really can't predict what event or what catalyst will occur to cause the metals to move higher, it's just an ongoing bull market. You know my long-term forecast going back to an interview in Biarritz in 2003 when gold was about $350/oz was that sometime between 2013 and 2015 gold would be $8000/oz and I' sticking to that forecast. And that forecast is not based on crystal balls or anything of that nature, it's basically just mathematical that when you go into a financial bust, and one began in 2000, people prefer tangible assets over financial assets because in a financial bust a lot of promises that have been made are broken, and when those promises are broken, confidence in the system falls and people move to tangible assets because they want to own things like gold because gold doesn't have counterparty risk. We're still very much in this major trend and as the problems in Greece continue to unravel because I don't think this parliament bill that's been approved is going to have any long-term positive effect, and other problems in Europe - in Italy and Spain continue to unfold, and recently now the bond-raising agencies have marked the united kingdom for a possible downgrade which would take it from its AAA status. All of these cumulatively are providing reasons for people to move out of financial assets, to move into tangible assets, so I expect this trend to continue. But what event it's going to be you can't really predict that, you just have to play the bull trend, continue to accumulate the metals - I've been recommending a dollar cost averaging programme to do that and focus on much higher prices in the years ahead, as all these problems come to a head.
