Bob Chapman : Dysfunctional Markets That Change Every Hour

Bob Chapman on the Sovereign Economist 19 May 2010

extracts from the latest issue of the International forecaster :"
markets too hard to follow, Euro bailout continues to fail, Fed the source of liquidity for ECB, Bank failures and home losses continue, layoffs rise, Goldman Sachs likely to payout for SEC suit, California pension pressures, deflation fears,

Keeping up with today’s dysfunctional markets is very difficult because they change hour by hour. The problems of Europe have stolen center stage from US problems. The focus is on Europe, but we all should remember trillions of dollars have been injected into the US financial system since mid-2007. All are attempting to maintain the façade that all is well, when in fact all is not well. Underlying assets are worth far less than their stated value. As a symptom of this corporate bank lending has fallen off a cliff and in Europe it doesn’t exist. Without such lending there can be no recovery. The American implosion will now be repeated in Europe. The green shoots of recovery have now turned into poison ivy. The abyss has again been filled with more debt and more fiat currency. In the process the Fed and now the ECB have lost all credibility.

The $1 trillion initial package to save the euro thus far has been a failure as the euro continues its decent. This bailout plan has US fingerprints all over it. The elitists figured they could take down the entire system in 1-1/2 to 2 years, but the poster child Greece didn’t cooperate, so all their plans have been split asunder. As far as the bailout is concerned will the effort be stopped in German courts and will the austerity programs in the weak countries work? Greek citizens say no. We will just have to see if they are serious. Do not forget that the bogus books in Greece are nothing different than almost all nations have been engaged in. Greece is no better or worse than the rest. Again, like the US, Europe is only trying to buy time. In fact, Mr. Trichet and Mrs. Merkel tell us officially that is what they are up too, buying time. This is not a situation where Greece acted alone; every nation has been doing something very similar. What is different this time is that the Greeks have responded with rage over the past month. As a result of that, the falling euro and skepticism as to whether the stimulus will work has pushed acceptance in the wrong direction.

Needless to say, all these machinations have led to deep disappointment in the wealthier EU member countries. At this point we don’t see cooperation between Greeks and their government and the bureaucrats led by a Bilderberger. On the other side the other members of the EU and the IMF refuse to conduct a bailout, which is supposed to protect the members. The Greek government may have signed the treaty, but the Greek populace hasn’t. Stringent austerity measures are not something they’ll stand still for encompassing the next ten years."

Bob Chapman : Mortgage purchase applications sank 27.1 percent to the lowest level since May 1997

Bob Chapman on Dr Deagle Show

Bob Chapman

the global economy is failing , Extract from THE INTERNATIONAL FORECASTER of SATURDAY, MAY 22, 2010 :
"
Mortgage purchase applications sank 27.1 percent to the lowest level since May 1997
in the absence of the popular government support, the group said. U.S. housing groped for footing after more than a year of homebuyer tax credits worth up to $8,000 expired on April 30. Requests for home purchase loans have fallen almost 20 percent over the past month despite low borrowing costs. "It's disturbing," said John Canally, economist at LPL Financial in Boston.
"It seems that every other data point for housing is pretty good -- high affordability, low interest rates, relatively low inventory, home prices are up -- so I'm leaning toward the hangover from the tax credit but I'm going to need to see a couple of more weeks of data." Overall loan requests were down 1.5 percent, on a seasonally adjusted basis, in the week ended May 14, cushioned by a 14.5 percent jump in mortgage refinancing applications as home loan rates neared historic lows.
Average 30-year mortgage rates fell 0.13 percentage point last week to 4.83 percent, the lowest since last November, the MBA said. The record low was 4.61 percent in March 2009, based on the group's survey, which has been conducted since 1990.
Refinancing applications jumped to a nine-week high and accounted for about 68 percent of all applications last week.
But buyers took a low profile after rushing en masse to take advantage of the tax incentive. "The data continue to suggest that the tax credit pulled sales into April at the expense of the remainder of the spring buying season," Michael Fratantoni, the industry group's vice president of research and economics, said in a statement.
The MBA separately reported that total U.S. home loans that are late paying or in foreclosure eased in the first quarter but remained near record highs, largely because the country's unemployment rate remains elevated.
One out of seven U.S. households with a mortgage ended the first quarter late on payments or in the foreclosure process.
With the tax credits gone, home shoppers will take more time to find the right property, said Marc Demetriou, branch manager/mortgage consultant at Residential Home Funding Corp in Bloomingdale, New Jersey.
"Unemployment is definitely still an issue and inventory is still an issue, but it's definitely a buyer's market," he said. However, "people that were serious about buying worked very hard and spent a lot of time and effort to find the right house to get in for April 30," when the tax credit expired,
U.S. borrowers have gotten a hand from Europe, on worry that roughly $1 trillion in emergency funding might not be enough to stabilize euro zone debt markets. Investors have fled for the safest securities, slicing the U.S. Treasury yields that are used as a peg for mortgage rates.
Low borrowing costs and stabilizing home prices are being offset by the near double-digit U.S. unemployment rate and a looming supply of foreclosed properties yet to hit the market. The worst of the housing crisis is over but recovery will be long and slow, most economists agree."

Bob Chapman on The Greek Debt Crisis

Bob Chapman The International Forecaster interviewed by Athens Greece based journalist Helen Skopis on the Greek Debt Crisis Apr 09 2010

Bob Chapman on The International Forecaster of 22 May 2010 wrote "Goldman Sachs Group Inc. racked up trading profits for itself every day last quarter. Clients who followed the firm’s investment advice fared far worse. Seven of the investment bank’s nine “recommended top trades for 2010” have been money losers for investors who adopted the New York-based firm’s advice, according to data compiled by Bloomberg from a Goldman Sachs research note sent yesterday. Clients who used the tips lost 14 percent buying the Polish zloty versus the Japanese yen, 9.4 percent buying Chinese stocks in Hong Kong and 9.8 percent trading the British pound against the New Zealand dollar. The struggles for analysts at Goldman Sachs, which is fighting a fraud lawsuit from U.S. regulators who accuse the company of misleading investors in a mortgage-linked security, show the difficulty of predicting market movements as widening budget deficits, a fragile global economic recovery and tighter financial regulations increase volatility. Stock and currency fluctuations rose to the highest in a year this month as Europe pledged about $1 trillion to stop a debt crisis in the region."

Bob Chapman on Goldman Sachs proprietary trading

"Goldman Sachs is ceasing proprietary trading in one type of structured debt. A group of traders who were focused on making bets on collateralized loan obligations with the New York-based firm’s own money are now handling trades for clients.
Morgan Stanley Chief Executive Officer James Gorman denied allegations the U.S. bank misled investors about mortgage derivatives it sold them. The firm is being probed by U.S. prosecutors over whether the bank misled clients when it sold them collateralized debt obligations as its own traders bet that the value of the securities would drop. Wall Street firms are facing unprecedented scrutiny from lawmakers and prosecutors over whether they mis-sold CDOs linked to the subprime mortgages that caused the credit crisis.
The fallout from the European debt crisis raises the risk of a ‘double dip’ recession for the global economy, said Stephen Roach, chairman of Morgan Stanley Asia Ltd. ‘When you have a vulnerable post-crisis economic recovery and crises reverberating in the aftermath of that, you have some very serious risks to the global business cycle,’ Roach said. This concept of the global double dip which no one wants to talk about is alive and well." extract from the International forecaster of 19 May 2010

John Stadtmiller - May 18 2010- Robby Noel, Bob Chapman- Financial Roundtable - CF

Highlights...

Germany banned short selling, California might go the way of Greece and Spain. Bob mentions that Silver could go to $50 if Gold goes to $2400.

John plays a audio clip of Zbigniew Brzezinski in Montreal who says a global awakening of the people is feared by the elite.

Robby tells John about the Meltup video. Robby goes on to mention that the video says silver could go to $72. Robby could not find any fault with the video. (Meltup is available on Concen, as well as Youtube).

At 48:00 John plays a interesting clip from Michael Savage's program, the caller is a real clueless woman (this alone needs its own torrent!).

A caller asks Bob if he knew Myron Fagan who made the Illuminati recordings. John mentions the recordings helped wake him up to what was going on.

There could be a investigation of Glen Beck and Goldline. Much much more......

Bob Chapman : Germany is headed to Riots

The Morality Of The Financial Monetary System Is Really What is Broken

The Obama-Dodd-Frank Frankenstein Fed Big Bankster Bailout Bill, schemes and frauds went on for too long, bring back the Glass-Stegall Act, Vampire squids run the economy, alternatives to the financial establishment are threatened with regulations, reform bills are toothless...

What do you get when you cross a Dumbo with a Jackass? Answer: You get a dumb-ass, overweight US politician with a sterile mind who executes every order that comes from our Shadow Government like some sort of mindless automaton. In fact, we no longer have even a bogus two-party system with Dumbos and Jackasses. We note that there was never a dime's bit of difference between the two parties in any case (ask Herbert Hoover), but that is even more true today than it was during Hoover's administration, as the one world agenda, which both parties subscribe to, moves forward with lighting speed. Since we really only have one party now, we thought that we should take this opportunity to dub it the "Dumb-ass" party, seeing as how this party is now hell-bent on destroying our country, and themselves with it. If we are now starting to sound like the Mogambo Guru, so be it.

Case in Point: The Obama-Dodd-Frank Frankenstein Fed Big Bankster Bailout Bill (hereinafter referred to as the ODFFFBBBB). We thought that we would give credit for this toxic legislation to the three people most involved in sponsoring this bill who also happen to be three of the highest paid politicians in terms of their bankster-gangster campaign contributions. So we have Obama," Dodd, the whipping boy, gopher and yes-man for Wall Street who has never seen a bill that favored big bankster-gansters that he didn't like, and Frank, who compete's with Dodd for the post of top Wall Street whipping boy. What a motley crew (with no offense intended to the heavy metal band "Motley Crue," who are paragons of virtue compared to this group of miscreants).read more >>>

"GOLD, SILVER, PLATINUM AND PALLADIUM

Gold open interest rose 6,636 contracts to 583,954. We should reach $1,300 over the next several days. The gold and silver Comex and share shorts are getting buried, and that is going to continue. Gold is now recognized as a currency again. What is paramount is that the US government’s suppression of the gold and silver markets is coming to an end. Secondly, the world, except for perhaps 10% of its inhabitants, are not in gold and they all are potential buyers. The XAU rose 1.81 to 186.08 and the HUI rose 3.39 to 491.76. "

Bob Chapman : Gold Is A Good Bet When Sovereign Nations Are Imploding

Get physical gold, real shortages in physical metals affect market activities in strange and interesting ways, pressure on Goldman Sachs in time for the election, hand slaps for the destroyers of economies, paper interests are folly, metals due for a moon shot...

There are only two kinds of gold and silver to own. Physical gold and silver that are located above the ground and that are also in your possession (which can be owned via coins, bullion, jewelry, etc.), and physical gold and silver that is located below the ground (which can be owned through producer shares which represent an ownership interest in the ore containing the raw and unprocessed metals). That is because while owners of bogus paper interests in above-ground gold and silver such as ETF shares, COMEX and LBME contracts, mint certificates and OTC derivative contracts in gold and silver are subject to fraudulent claims of ownership, storage, possession, inventory levels, security issues, insurance issues and metal content, those who take physical possession of their above-ground gold and silver need only worry about security and insurance issues (easily resolved with a private safe/secret hiding place and a call to your insurance carrier) and the metal content of their physical gold and silver, which metal content is really only a concern for the larger bars of gold bullion which recent events reveal might be "tungsten-salted." One further concern is honesty and fair dealing in making purchases outside of any exchange through dealers. We can provide you with a list of dealers on request who will treat you fairly so you can buy your metals at a fair price in types and quantities that are right for your situation. Liquidity of physical metals in your possession is not a problem, although it requires more effort to liquidate than doing transactions on an exchange accessible via your computer. Don't get lazy - buy physical!

Bob Chapman : Europe and America Morally and Financially Bankrupt

Greece Bailed out, 19 more nations to go, Greeks not ready to submit to austerity, Gold is the antithesis of Fiat money, false hope for jobs, Goldman Sachs under investigation, but they make money every quarter regardless...

Greece has its immediate financing. Now the question is can they follow the prescription? In all likelihood the answer is no. the bond markets are reflecting that via a lack of confidence. In fact, some bond markets are falling apart and there is no end in sight. We have bond rating firms lowering ratings, as the rating services themselves are under serious fire and we do not believe they will be around long. The big question is why did it take two years and 10 months to react?

There are 19 nations with serious sovereign debt problems and there is really no way back for them. They may as well all default, because the austerity programs they’d have to follow and at the same time to satisfy creditors, not only is impossible but it signals years of stunted growth and perhaps in many cases the possibility of revolution. Greece certainly fills that bill. We see the Eurozone rules may soon be changed, so that Eurozone participants can assist one another. That means in time they will all collapse together. As many as five members could need assistance of the 16 in the zone. Our guess is permanent bailouts will go forward and the ECB rules will be changed to allow the ECB to function like the Fed. Greece and many others are trapped and they will burden the healthy nations and neutralize them. This approach is the ECB nuclear option. It will destroy the zone eventually. This will destroy the euro and end the option of the euro becoming the world reserve currency. The zone would have adopted the same approach as the US and UK in destroying their currencies. How can you have a union with one interest rate, where the ECB controls the monetary policy, but cannot control the budget deficits, borrowing and spending activities of its members?

Bob Chapman on The Economy Collapse

Editor and publisher of The International Forecaster, Bob Chapman, discussed the economic crisis, how brokerage firms such as Goldman Sachs played a part in
fueling the collapse, and where he sees the economy heading into the future. He dismissed news that the economic crisis may be abating. Instead, Chapman
said, we are merely seeing a "barrage of government propaganda, the psy ops that go on everyday, convincing people that everything is going to be okay."

He decried the use of derivatives by large firms like Goldman Sachs and alleged that their nefarious activity goes even further than that. According to
Chapman, these companies pay a fee to have their automated trading computers positioned closest to the central computer of the New York Stock Exchange,
which processes incoming and outgoing trades. "Because of its proximity, in nanoseconds," Chapman explained, the computers, and thus the firms, become
"privy to orders before anybody else is and they are able to counteract what is going on with the orders, in order to make a larger profit."

Looking ahead to the future, Chapman foresaw the further devaluing of the dollar, estimating that over the course of the next two to three years,
"it will lose two thirds of its value versus other currencies." He was skeptical about a one world currency, but did suggest the possibility that one could
be created "for trading purposes only." This specialized currency would allow for countries to keep their own internal monetary systems. Perhaps most
troubling, he was adamant that the financial crisis will lead to a global war, saying "you can take that to the bank, if the bank is still there."

Bob Chapman Physical Gold and Silver vs. ETFs

Another aspect to the Greek problem is that rating cuts are going to force Greek banks to post more collateral, which would force them into a liquidity trap and that could spread the contagion through the global financial system. If more collateral is not forthcoming the banks’ bonds would be downgraded. This also could cause Greek banks to sell assets, putting more pressure on an already weak system. Is it no wonder that gold and silver prices are rising?
In spite of all this the euro zone has the fiscal capacity to backstop banks within the region and to support the PIIGS. The question is will they? Germany seems to be in no hurry to do so. Greece needs loans or to float bonds in the amount of $350 billion over the next five years, which is a tall order. The present approach is to solve this year’s problems of some $80 billion, but bondholders are looking out five years. They are saying to themselves what is going to happen next year and up to five years from now. One good thing is if the Greeks stay in the euro zone they cannot monetize debt away and ruin bond values. Seventy percent of Greeks oppose dealing with the IMF, or accepting loans from the EU. We ask then what do they propose? This is why many investors are throwing their hands in the air and opting to buy gold throughout Europe. No matter which way Greece takes gold is really the only good hedge against a devaluing euro. Gold is not only a hedge against the euro, but also against commodity inflation. A recovery, if it did take place in Europe, would cause higher inflation as well. Causing conflict on the inflation issue is the ECB’s opinion that there is no inflation, when even officially there is. Germany had best not press Greece too hard, because if Greece leaves the euro it would rock global markets. We believe a deal will be done and that will temporarily solve the problem, perhaps for 1 or 1-1/2 years. That is when all the financial derelicts will be taken down together.

Bob Chapman : Keynesianism will die and gold will shoot to the moon

Big Problems With Who Should Regulate
Goldman Sachs Staff surf porn regularly, Greek crisis explains why gold is better, Fed getting too much power over peoples financial lives, bad financial instruments will remain untouched, public fury against the Fed and Wall Street, vast ponzis still in play in the market, Wall st may still be looting the public...

One thing the Greek crisis has shown us is that gold is a viable alternative to currencies. In spite of all the manipulation by the US government and the consistent blatant attempts to suppress both gold and silver they come back time after time. Gold finished last week strongly, as did silver and this week they will have to hold off the onslaught of our elitists, as both gold and silver options expire simultaneously.

Gold was soundly bid in London as it was on the continent. Prices were assisted in London by a slowdown in growth on the fears that monetary loosening and stimulus would be needed to keep the economy from plunging again.read more >>>

Bob Chapman : The Euro is Doomed cause You cannot have one interest rate for 16 countries with different level of development

Bob Chapman : A Financial Conflagration Of Immense Proportions

Fiat money buckling, an inflationary depression, years of reckless spending, Greek debt unpayable, Euro zone in jeopardy, a loss of integrity in US markets, criminal charges for Goldman Sachs, side pockets a new hedge fun trick, Banks on subprime offensive, Fed works the printing presses overtime...
America and the world face a financial conflagration of immense proportions. The world of fiat money and massive credit is buckling under the pressure of unpayable debt. Each day the safe haven of gold and silver related assets become more attractive. We ask where else do you go for safety? A conflagration is a fire out of control and that is exactly the conditions the world faces today. The inflationary depression has smoldered for 14 months and it will soon accelerate.
For the last 15 years the world has lived far beyond its means especially the US, UK and Europe and as we all know that cannot continue indefinitely. The federal government continues to hire when it should be firing. Having lost 80% of our industrial base we struggle in a service economy that cannot service 300 million plus people, never mind supply exports to offset the cost of imports that we no longer manufacture. We now supply indefinite unemployment benefits, which in reality cannot go on forever. The fiscal debt spirals ever higher and the Fed creates money and credit with no end in sight, which devalues the dollar. Taxation on individuals and businesses continues relentlessly higher. This is the way of corporatist fascism. This is now the way of America. from the Internationa forecaster of 1st may read more >>>>
